Students in most classes will be invited to perform or showcase their work on August 20th as part of our End of Summer Celebration, an affirming and joyful way to launch them into the school year.

Policies & Procedures

First add the classes you want to your cart and check out. Once you have paid for your classes, please register your student(s) HERE. When you arrive for your first class, you will be asked to sign a waiver and confirm your information.

Class preregistration is not required, but is recommended to ensure availability and receive notification of any changes due to weather and/or Covid. We can’t always get to the mall to post signage about changes.

If your student wants to be in a class but doesn’t fit the age, if your student has special needs, or if you have questions about the appropriateness of a class for your student, talk to us! We want to support your family in any way we can. Some classes are great for a wide range of ages and abilities and some are not. EMAIL us.

Children 3 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times.

Most classes are meant to be drop off classes. As long as all registration paperwork has been filled out with at least two contacts listed, parents are welcome to leave the premises upon drop off.

Parents are also welcome to stay in the venue as desired. We have private desks, seating in the room, seating right outside the room, and a lounge in the back room. Whether you’re handling separation issues or you just need a place to work while waiting, we are happy to accommodate parent needs.

Our venue is 100% mobility accessible, including the stage and the restroom. If you require accommodations, please EMAIL us in advance.

If your student is staying for 90 minutes or longer, we recommend packing or bringing money for a snack and water ($1 each). Our water fountains are not in use.

Masking is no longer required at Free Range Kids. Many, but not all, of our staff and teachers continue to wear masks. Please visit our SAFETY page for information on Covid precautions and refund policies and talk to us before you register if you have specific needs or concerns.

If you need a Discount, Scholarship, or Payment Plan, please EMAIL us. We can usually accommodate you unless we are unable to meet minimums to run a class. We want your student to be able to participate, and can frequently enlist donors to cover some costs.

We are a non-profit and your donation helps ensure we are here providing low barrier performing arts education for years to come. Please visit our ABOUT US page to learn more about our mission and vision for the performing arts in Frederick County. If you would like to make a donation specifically for a scholarship, you may put that in the notes on checkout and it will be honored.

Summer classes are fully refundable through May 31st at 11:59pm.

Classes cancelled at least two weeks before their start date & time are 50% refundable.

Classes missed after this point are not refundable. Upon request, we will issue you a pro rata credit towards future classes.

Any class that we cancel or that is cancelled due to state and local mandates will be refunded.

The Free Range Kids & Teens storefront is located in the Francis Scott Key Mall at 5500 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick, Maryland.

The best entrance to use is the one under the Blue Awning on the backside of the mall. This parking area is between Macy’s and Value City Furniture. You will be able to leave through this door at any time.

We are near center court, across the hall from H&M. For more details, visit our HOURS & LOCATIONS page.

If you arrive to pick up your student and the mall is closed, wait by the sliding doors on the backside of the mall. You will see the word TANZO written in large letters on the side of the building. We will walk students out to this door and wait with them til your arrival.

Schedule Most Weeks

Classes run Monday thru Friday at the same time each day unless otherwise noted. There is at least a 30 minute courtesy arrival and departure window for daytime classes.
